Angelina Jolie was joined by three of her children—Pax, Zahara, and Maddox—at the New York Film Festival premiere of Maria, her upcoming biopic about opera legend Maria Callas. The 49-year-old actress, who shares her children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, received their support as she attended the screening and panel for the Pablo Larraín-directed film.
In an interview with E! News, Angelina shared her thoughts on the challenging role, stating, “It was a wonderful, long process… I had very patient and supportive teachers from singing classes to Italian classes to opera classes. And Pablo is just such a brilliant director, and he’s so well versed.”
Her kids dressed stylishly for the event, with Pax, 20, donning a gray suit and shades, which partially concealed his facial injuries from a recent e-bike accident. Maddox, 23, opted for a classic black suit, while Zahara, 18, accompanied them with her signature elegance.
Angelina and Zahara, 19, matched in white gowns with the Oscar winner opting for a structured Grecian-style dress while her daughter exuded vintage Hollywood glamour in a satin halter dress.
Maria follows the famed singer in the final week of her life before her sudden death at 53 of a heart attack. Angelina took months of vocal training to prepare for the taxing role.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Angelina admitted to the Associated Press of the project recently. “I was terrified.”
As for the similarities she found between herself and the famed singer, Angelina found lots of common ground.
“I mean, when we need to fight, we fight, for ourselves or for those we love or for our art,” Angelina added. “But I think deep down there’s a fragility that I identified with and a loneliness.”
