This is the horrific moment police found a murdered woman’s body in a bathtub – after her sick husband made the death look like a suicide.
Cops arrived at the couple’s home in Idaho to find former state trooper Dan Howard screaming in the front yard after he claimed to have found his wife Kendy Howard, dead in a bathtub in February 2021.
“My wife, she shot herself,” a distraught Dan told the operator. “She’s in the bathtub dead. I go upstairs and she’s dead. She’s dead…she’s gray, she has no pulse, nothing…she’s cold.”
Cops arrived at the home to find her husband of 26 years crying and screaming in the front yard. Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputy Miranda Thomas told CBS the former Idaho State Trooper was “screaming, yelling, asking us for help, sobbing, gagging, just overall kind of freaking out.

Dan had told police he had heard a loud bang upstairs while he was downstairs and an hour later he found Kendy with a gunshot wound to her head in a bathtub full of water.
Kootenai County Sheriff’s Detective Jerry Northrup said the 911 call was classified as a suicide because Dan told the operator his wife had shot herself in the bathtub. Police went into the bathroom where they discovered the gun in the tub next to Kendy’s naked body. However, officers soon had suspicions.

“From the beginnings, it looks odd,” Northrup told 48 Hours correspondent Peter Van Sant. “For a woman to shoot herself in the tub, nude, is unusual,” he said. “It doesn’t mean it can’t happen. It just means that it’s unusual.”
Police found a packed bag full of women’s clothes at the bottom of the stairs, along with broken glass in the couple’s bedroom. There were also wet towels behind the bathroom door – and the bathtub water was also tepid. Bizarrely, there was also a load of laundry with minutes left on the dryer cycle. “A washer or dryer doesn’t run for very long, 45 minutes, maybe an hour, so when was this washer and dryer started?” Thomas asked.
