King Charles has made headlines with a new announcement affecting Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The Buckingham Palace has advertised a key interior design job at Frogmore Cottage, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s former UK residence. This move comes as a setback for the couple, who were asked to vacate their 10-bedroom home after relocating to California.
Frogmore Cottage, situated on the King’s Windsor Estate, was extensively renovated at a cost of £2.4 million, funded by taxpayers. The renovations included significant updates to heating, wiring, and utilities, giving the historic property a major overhaul. Despite this, Meghan and Harry returned the keys to the property in 2023 following the publication of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.
The palace’s latest move involves renting out Frogmore Cottage, which was a wedding gift from the late Queen. Additionally, Buckingham Palace is seeking a Curtain Maker and Soft Furnishings Upholsterer for a year-long contract at £28,000 annually. The role includes designing and producing soft furnishings, window dressings, and overseeing various aspects of design and conservation work.
The job listing specifies that the ideal candidate will need excellent time-management skills, as the position involves balancing projects with the busy activities of the working Palaces. The fixed-term contract begins in November and aligns with the ongoing five-year repainting and repair program at the Palace.
This development underscores the continued changes and challenges for Meghan and Harry as they navigate their new life away from their former UK home.
