One customer was livid earlier this year after receiving simultaneous charges on two cards Davidson stated in a tweet that Walmart tried to charge her for a transaction on two separate credit cards at the same time She canceled both her Walmart membership and her debit card as a result of the incident
Stores are using receipt checks as customers leave in an effort to reduce retail crime Legally retailers may request to inspect a customers receipts and membershiponly retailers may request these kinds of checks if customers accepted the terms and circumstances allowing for such requests
Shopkeepers Privilege laws generally grant stores the right to hold an individual until police enforcement arrives if they have a good faith belief that a crime such as theft has been committed
Since receipt checks are a relatively new practice there isnt much specific legislation regarding their legality because it takes time for the law to keep up with technological advancements
