Former President Donald Trump visited Georgia on Monday in the wake of Hurricane Helene where he slammed the Biden administration’s response to the disaster.

Appearing at a furniture store in the heavily hit Valdosta, Georgia the former president the day was not about politics but still continued to criticize both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for what he is claiming is a poor response from the White House after Helene ripped through the southeast.

“As you know, our country is in the final weeks of a hard-fought national election. But in a time like this, when a crisis hits, when our fellow citizens cry out in need, none of that matters,” Trump told the crowd. “We’re not talking about politics now. We have to all get together and get this solved. We need a lot of help. They have to have a lot of help down here,”

Trump, almost in the same breath as telling the crowd the day wasn’t about politics, said that the administration has not done enough in the wake of this historic storm, which caused severe damage in several states, including the battleground states of North Carolina and Georgia.

Trump claimed that the president hadn’t even called Georgia Gov. Brain Kemp despite Kemp saying they had in fact spoken.

President Biden criticized Trump for “lying” about federal contacts with Georgia officials during the response to Hurricane Helene.

“He’s lying, and the governor told him he was lying.” Biden said during an Oval Office address regarding the response to Helene. “I don’t know why he does this,” Biden continued. “I don’t care about what he says about me, but I care what he communicates to people that are in need. He implies that we’re not doing everything possible. We are. We are.”

Vice President Harris on Monday cut short a planned campaign stop in Nevada to return to Washhington to be briefed on the aftermath of Helene and speak to workers at the Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters.

“I have received regular briefings on the impact of Hurricane Helene, including from Administrator Criswell,” she told FEMA workers. “And over the past 24 hours, I have spoken with Governor Kemp of Georgia, Governor Cooper of North Carolina, and many local officials.”

Harris said that she would visit the region when she would not disrupt the repose. Biden similarity said that he would visit the region later this week to assess the damage.

The Trump campaign claimed on Monday that they were partnering with Samaritan’s Purse, a nonprofit aid group delivering emergency supplies to Georgia. A Trump campaign official it brought two trucks of supplies and one gas tanker to Valdosta.

“We have a lot of truckloads of different items, from oil to water to all sorts of equipment that’s going to help them, ‘ Trump said during his remarks on Monday.

However a campaign statement said they had “partnered” with Samaritan’s Purse, implying Trump had not independently had supplies brought in, and was merely partnering with the non-profit already in the area.
