Joaquin Phoenix has sparked marriage rumors with his fiancé Rooney Mara as he slipped up and called her his “wife” during a recent podcast apperance.
Fans seem to believe Joaquin could’ve exchanged some secret wedding vows as he was seen lovingly referring to Rooney as his “wife” on the podcast Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso. During the lively discussion, the 49-year-old actor touched on a number of fascinating subjects from his latest film Joker: Folie à Deux alongside Lady Gaga, to growing up in a cult.
And as he dished on a wide range of topics, listeners picked up on the subtle snafu as he was discussing the process of crafting his Oscars speech. In 2020, Joaquin took home the Academy Award for Best Actor following his performance in the Joker. And as he was asked about his passionate winner’s speech, Joaquin said he was inspired after he “was talking with my mom and my wife.”
Later in the same interview he brought up Rooney by name, confirming that she was the “wife” he was referring to. Despite the hint that vows could’ve been exchanged, Joaquin remained tight-lipped about the status of his long-term relationship.
