Kim Kardashian is continuing to advocate for the Menendez brothers ‘freedom’ as she shares new passionate Instagram post stating that ‘we are all products of our experiences’
Kim Kardashian continues to push for the Menendez brothers “freedom” after the siblings were sentenced to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of murdering their parents.
After Netflix released the new true crime series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, directed by Ryan Murphy, Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez’ 1996 murder trial has been a hot topic of conversation. The newly released show follows the Menendez brothers who fatally shot their parents in their Beverly Hills home in 1989. During their trials, the brothers cited years of abuse as the reason for killing their parents.
And as the case has been brought back into the spotlight, the reality star has advocated for their release from prison and claimed that there is more to the story than viewers realize. In a new Instagram post, Kim shared a black-and-white photo of the siblings standing in front of their home in Beverly Hills and wrote: “It’s time for the Menendez brothers to be freed.”
The American Horror Story actress continued: “We are all products of our experiences. They shape who we were, who we are, and who we will be. Physiologically and psychologically, time changes us, and I doubt anyone would claim to be the same person they were at 18. I know I’m not! You think you know the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez. I certainly thought I did.”
She then went on to promote her own personal essay on the Menendez Brothers that was published by NBC News this week. In the article, Kim details the brothers’ case and urges authorities to reconsider the brothers’ life sentences and argued that the sentencing was far too harsh given the circumstances.
Under Kim’s new post, the 43-year-old star was met with a flood of comments with some fans praising her selfless criminal justice work while others condemned the brothers’ violent act. One supporter wrote: “Go off Kim!! This is incredible!!” And another added: “YES KIM! FREE THE MENENDEZ BROTHERS! They’ve suffered enough!” And a third added: “I feel like they did enough time for their crime and I believe them.”
