Ramon Joseph Rivas of Simi Valley, California is facing charges of murder and child endangerment and is currently being held without bond, according to Ventura County authorities.
A California man is being charged with murder in connection with the killing of his girlfriend who he allegedly stabbed to death in front of the couple’s children.
Ramon Joseph Rivas, 34, of Simi Valley is facing murder charges as well as two counts of child endangerment, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. He is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Jessica Marie Tinoco, last week at their home in Simi Valley after an alleged domestic dispute.
The mother of five was stabbed multiple times in her home in front of several of her children. The children fled to the front of the home and called 911 after Rivas came home and allegedly began attaching their mother, according to authorities. Rivas was arrested without a struggle according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

When officers responded to the home they found Tinoco suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital before she was pronounced dead from her injuries. Rivas is currently being held without bail after appearing in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday. He will appear on Oct. 30 to be arraigned on all charges.
A vigil for Tinoco was held on Monday and saw over 100 people in attendance to pay tribute and remember the mother of five. Loved ones said she had a “pure heart” and her biggest flaw was that she cared too much about people who did not deserve her affection.
The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and the Ventura District Attorney’s Office told KTLA News that they encourage anyone who is a victim or survivor of domestic violence who is in need of help to connect with a victim advocate at the Ventura County Family Justice Center in Ventura. Requests for help can be made in person or can be submitted through email, call, or text message.

In 2018 domestic violence accounted for 20% of all violent crimes reported and 65% of all murder suicides involve an intimate partner. 96% of victims in these crimes were women according to the NCADV.
