Ryan Murphy says controversial Monsters series gave Menendez brothers ‘platform’ amid court hearing.Vuong

The creator of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story Ryan Murphy has spoken up about his thoughts on the brothers getting a new court date amid the buzz around his show

Renowned TV producer Ryan Murphy is giving himself a pat on the back after the recent Menendez brothers news.

The creator of Netflix‘s Monsters anthology series recently released a season on the murder trial of Erik and Lyle Menendez. Though the series has gotten backlash from the brothers themselves as well as fans, Ryan has stayed proud of his true crime rendition.

On Thursday, it was announced that Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón will consider new evidence in a court hearing for the brothers in November. With the announcement coming so close to the show, it’s easy to make a connection between it and the recent buzz around the case.

“We gave them their moment in the court of public opinion,” Ryan told Variety, “Basically, we did give them a platform.”

He also predicted the brothers would be released from prison soon. “I think they can be out of prison by Christmas. I really believe that,” he said.

Both brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1996 for the 1989 murder of their parents Kitty and Jose Menendez. But now the case is getting another look after alleged evidence has resurfaced seemingly backing up the claim that the brothers were molested by their father.

“We have been given evidence. We have been given a photocopy of a letter that allegedly was sent by one of the brothers to another family member talking about him being the victim of molestation,” the LA District Attorney said, ‘We’ve also got evidence that was provided by the defense, by his lawyers, that one of the members of the Menudo band alleged that he was molested by the father.”

One of the famous faces calling for the release of the brothers is Kim Kardashian, who also starred in Ryan’s series American Horror Story. The reality star took to Instagram, writing: “It’s time for the Menendez brothers to be freed.”

“We are all products of our experiences. They shape who we were, who we are, and who we will be,” she wrote, “Physiologically and psychologically, time changes us, and I doubt anyone would claim to be the same person they were at 18. I know I’m not!”

The star added: “You think you know the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez. I certainly thought I did.”
