The Espresso singer recently shut down beliefs that Barry only scored the role because of their relationship as she explained that was far from the truth
Sabrina Carpenter was candid about why she hired her boyfriend Barry Keoghan for one of her music videos.
The Espresso singer recently shut down the belief that Barry only scored the role because of their relationship with CBS as she explained that was far from the truth. Sabrina told the news outlet that her selecting her beau as the bad-boy male principal stemmed from her trusting instinct and her “not-even-biased opinion” as she respected his acting talent.
“I, genuinely — like, a not-even-biased opinion — I was like, ‘Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video?’ And he was next to me in a chair,’ she said, speaking about the Oscar winner.
“And he was so excited about it,” she added. The video was for track Please, Please, Please, which is the second song from her top pop album Short n’ Sweet.

“He likes the song, which is great. He’s a fan of the song,” Sabrina shared, also revealing that he “does like my music a lot, yeah.” Sabrina and Barry were first romantically linked in Summer 2023. However, the two A-listers have been choosing to keep the details of their relationship closely under wraps – even after they starred in her music video together.
While Sabrina and Barry might not be publicly showing off their love, the blonde bombshell has no issue publicly praising his talent.
“I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation,” Sabrina told Variety. “So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.” A little after that, the Disney Channel alum revealed to The Guardian that getting close to the Saltburn actor in her video was “one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”
She explained that she was “very honored” that she “got to work with such a great actor.” Additionally, Sabrina revealed that she’s cautious about keeping her relationship under wraps.
‘It’s not what I signed up for, but I can’t really help when I was born,” she said.”I want to be honest — I want to just write about what’s happening in my life as a 25-year-old girl.”
Sabrina continued: “But it comes with the territory and I just have to be like…okay!”
