On Saturday, Sept. 21, Pink performed at EBMRF’s private Rock4EB event, a fundraiser for research into the rare skin condition epidermolysis bullosa. The star-studded crowd included Brad Pitt, Judd Apatow, Kaley Cuoco, and more.
Pink was joined by her You + Me bandmate, Dallas Green, and her 13-year-old daughter, Willow, made a special appearance to close the show. As she introduced their final song, “Cover Me in Sunshine,” Pink reflected on Willow’s impressive first take of the song ahead of its 2021 release.
“During the pandemic, I taught myself GarageBand, which for me, is a big deal, so please be impressed,” Pink told the star-studded crowd. “I was working on what I thought was a phenomenal take when my daughter ran in. She asked, ‘What are you doing?’ and I said, ‘I’m hitting space bars, making magic happen.’ It was a really good take.”
Pink then shared how Willow showed interest in the song, and when asked if she wanted to sing on it, Willow agreed. “I joked she’s ‘One Take Willow’ because she nailed it in one try and then went swimming,” Pink laughed. “I asked if she wanted to do another take for safety, and she just said, ‘No, bye.'”
Earlier in the evening, Willow was spotted sitting by the stage, singing along to all her mom’s songs.
Pink has been open about supporting her daughter’s musical aspirations. Willow, along with her younger brother Jameson, often joins her mom on world tours. Last month, the mother-daughter duo performed Pink’s 2017 hit “What About Us” at the Democratic National Convention before Vice President Kamala Harris’s acceptance speech.
Ahead of their DNC performance, Pink shared a heartwarming video of her giving Willow a pep talk backstage. “Just do your thing. Whatever you don’t sing, I will,” she reassured her daughter.
