The multi-hyphenate star is using her celebrity platform to persuade fans to vote in the upcoming presidential election despite dealing with her divorce
Jennifer Lopez is not letting her split get in the way of her political activism. Despite being in the middle of divorce proceedings with ex-hubby Ben Affleck, the multi-hyphenate superstar is using her celebrity platform to encourage fans to hit the polls in the upcoming presidential election.
Lopez has partnered with I Am A Voter, a “non partisan organization dedicated to creating a cultural shift around voting and civic engagement. In a video recently posted on the organization’s Instagram page, she urged her fellow Americans to check their registration status so they can get out to vote.
Though she has been under the microscope since filing for divorce in August, the I’m Real singer is making sure that she redirects the millions of eyes she has on her to the election in November. Lopez is also co-chair of When We All Vote, a similar nonpartisan initiative to increase voter participation in America.

In the video for I Am A Voter, Lopez, wearing a cream-colored jacket and gold hoop earrings, asked viewers to check their voter registration status and vote, commenting on the significance of the upcoming election. She said: “This year we’re voting for president, every seat in the house, a third of the senate, and key state and local leaders who directly shape our lives. So let’s do this together.”
Though she does not say outright which candidate she is encouraging her fans to vote for, Lopez, along with other celebs like Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and Ben Stiller, publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris during Oprah Winfrey’s Unite for America 2024 event in September. The Bronx native also famously performed This Land is Your Land and America the Beautiful with a Let’s Get Loud twist at President Biden’s inauguration in 2021.
Though it hasn’t even been two months since she filed for divorce from Ben, Lopez is looking to channel her energy into her activism. Even if it is just a distraction from her heartbreak, she is putting on a brave face to do some good.
At the end of the video, she addressed the camera directly. She asked – almost as a challenge to the viewer – “I’m a voter. Are you?”
