Halloween in Wisconsin is different compared with other places because residents will have to beware of the horrifying Beast of Bray Road, a carnivorous, werewolf-like creature that for years made a community tremble.
The frightful tale is so terrifying it inspired various books and even a movie. Now, you’ll read about how residents of Milwaukee dealt with horrific encounters with a creature even Jeffrey Dahmer would be afraid of. The stories largely take place on the roadside late at night, which is expected for the tale of a werewolf-like beast.
Those who saw it and lived described the creature as a broad-chested, pointy-eared beast who was often scene treating itself to roadkill. A few claimed the beast attacked their vehicles.
The mysterious creature torments Elkhorn, Wisconsin, which is about 40 miles southwest of Milwaukee. The beast was first reported in 1936 but didn’t gain prominence until the 80s and 90s when the community became weary of the terrifying thing.
There was also a remarkable increase in sightings. Soon, the stories began to overlap, saying the beast was seen on the road at night feeding on a dead animal carcass.
The legend of the Bray Road Beast has sparked several books, documentaries and the movie: The Beast of Bray Road, which was released in 2005. Even so, no once could explain what it was. Some residents swore it was an overgrown deformed animal, others had less of an imagination and said it was a werewolf. A few were convinced the beast the was bigfoot and another bunch didn’t believe of its existence at all.
Inside Edition gathered witness testimony of alleged encounters with the beast in 1993, hearing from some that the creature scratched their cars with its long, jagged claws before they rapidly drove off.
One witness said, “If werewolves exist, this is probably a werewolf.” This answer has been swatted by experts who said people are likely seeing a large wolf, some dog breed or even a bear. Some dare devils hope to hunt the beast down as it hasn’t been seen since 2020.

The appearance of the beast has been contested since the folklore gained notoriety. The most-common consensus is that it’s a werewolf. However, the majority of sightings have been at night, so it’s still up to interpretation. Some believe the beast is part human, given pictures showing it perfectly stand on it’s hind legs.
A photo also shows the beast eerily missing hair on parts of it’s lower back, which isn’t common with werewolves. In May, the Elkhorn Community Center threw a party in celebration of the Beast of Bray Road and to offer updates about the search for the terrifying, but much sought after, creature.
