Kylian Mbappé has been accused of rape and sexual harassment at a Swedish hotel, according to local media reports.

 

Today, Mbappé slammed as “fake news” a report about an alleged rape at the hotel where he was staying with friends last week.

But now Swedish newspaper Expressen claims it is Mbappe who is being investigated by police after allegations were made against the Real Madrid star.

The footballer was visiting Sweden with friends from Wednesday to Friday last week, staying at the Bank Hotel in the city centre.

 

The alleged rape is said to have taken place on Thursday. Mbappé had visited the Chez Jolie restaurant that same evening, before heading to the V nightclub and eventually returning to his hotel in a black van with his entourage.

Today, Mbappé shared a newspaper article on X about an alleged rape at the hotel and wrote: “Fake news! It’s becoming so predictable, just before the hearing, like by chance.”

A hearing is due to take place next Thursday as part of his fight with his former club PSG over £46m in unpaid wages and bonuses.

Expressen said a report was filed with police two days later.

 

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports that police are investigating a rape at a hotel in central Stockholm, which allegedly occurred on Thursday night.

 

According to Aftonbladet, investigators and the forensic unit were at the alleged crime scene on Monday.

 

The newspaper reported that the alarm about the alleged rape was raised when the woman “sought care” at a local hospital.

 

Mbappé left Sweden’s Bromma Airport on a private jet on Friday. The prosecutor in charge of the rape investigation declined to comment on the case, telling local media: “I won’t say anything about this.”

 

Stockholm police issued a similar statement to MailOnline via spokeswoman Carina Skagerlind: “Police can neither confirm nor deny such a case.”

 

According to Aftonbladet, no suspects have yet been named in the case.

 

MailOnline has contacted the local prosecutor’s office as well as the Bank Hotel for comment.

 

This comes ahead of tomorrow’s hearing into the £46m in unpaid bonuses and wages PSG have been ordered to pay Mbappe.

Mbappe was due to receive a signing bonus in February and must repay unpaid wages from his seven-year spell in Paris before his transfer to Real Madrid in June.

 

PSG have refused to pay the sum and to follow the decision of French professional football’s governing body, the LFP.

 

Mbappe is understood to have contacted UEFA over the pay dispute last month.

 

On Thursday night, when Mbappé was spotted at V nightclub in Stockholm, it was the same night his France national team teammates beat Israel 4-1.

Mbappé was part of the French team that won the World Cup in 2018 and has scored 48 goals in 86 appearances for his country, making him France’s third-highest scorer of all time.

 

Mbappé has faced criticism in his home country of France for skipping their Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium while being available to play for his club Real Madrid.

 

The footballer suffered a hamstring injury last month but returned to the pitch from the bench in his club’s Champions League defeat to Lille last Wednesday before apparently travelling to Stockholm. He also played in most of Real Madrid’s game against Villarreal at the weekend but indicated he now needed more rest as part of his recovery from his hamstring injury.

 

France coach Didier Deschamps had announced he was leaving Mbappe out of the national team’s lineup, saying the 25-year-old lacked preparation having played very few games.

 

In a video released by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday, Deschamps said: “Kylian embodies many things… the interests of clubs and the interests of national teams inevitably diverge.

 

“We must also remember that the employer is the club, not the federation.”

 

Mbappé is France’s captain and with he and vice-captain Antoine Griezmann unable to play, Deschamps said others had to take on the role.
