Sinnott told reporters that hes always listening to Swifts music because his fiancée is a huge Taylor Swift fan
Is Travis Kelce competing with another tight end for Taylor Swifts heart?
The question became a hilarious topic of conversation after Washington Commanders rookie tight end Ben Sinnott, 22, scored his first touchdown catch game during his teams matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 20, in a play named after the Grammy winner, 34.
Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury announced the news while speaking to reporters on Thursday, Oct. 24, about the game, which the team won 40-7.
His first catch was a touchdown, and the play was called Taylor Swift, so you cant really beat that to start your NFL scoring career, so he was stoked about it, said Kingsbury, who joked that the team has a bunch of other plays named after pop stars.
When asked why the play was named after Swift, Kingsbury revealed that the tight ends came up with the name, jokingly telling reporters, Youd have to ask them, but I think he [Sinnott] must like Taylor Swift on a deeper level.
That same day, Sinnott spoke further about the play while addressing the media, saying he believes the tight end room is just a bunch of guys who like Taylor Swift.
It was kind of just a group consensus. So, yeah, its one I wont ever I wont ever forget, at least. So its pretty funny, he said.
Recalling how he felt when he heard the play being called, he told reporters that his heart kind of started pounding when I heard it, but I was excited and took advantage of it.
While the football player joked that they might have to change the name of the play now after the attention it has received, he added that hes looking forward to any opportunity to get out on the field.
As for how much of a Swiftie he is, Sinnott told reporters that hes always listening to her music because his fiancée is a huge Taylor Swift fan.
He also shared that he and his partner are fans of Swifts tracks Our Song and august.
