General Hospitals new episodes have been pulling at the heartstrings of viewers, and its mostly because of GH star Kelly Monaco.
The daytime programs Thursday show had fans emotional as they watched what appeared to be Kellys last moments with some of her co-stars. In the show, her character Sam McCall was taken to surgery to donate her liver in an attempt to save Lulu Spencers (Alexa Havins) life. While Kelly heading into surgery ignited a strong reaction among viewers as it signaled another exit, certain eagled-eyed fans were more hung up on a specific gesture she made during the hospital scene.
When Kellys character Sam is being wheeled around the corner in the hospital gurney to the surgery room, she raises her hand to gesture I love you.

Sam used American Sign Language to communicate the phrase. Shortly after General Hospital aired on October 24, fans went on X, formerly Twitter, to discuss whether or not the emotive moment was scripted or improvised. Some believed it to be Kelly acknowledging her supporters, who have been advocating for Kelly to be put back on the soap after it was revealed her character would be killed-off.
One curious fan commented, “Ok I really need to know if that I love you sign was scripted or if Kelly Monaco threw that in there for us #gh #jasam #allthefeels.
Clearing the air, Kelly replied, admitting that her ASL gesture was not scripted. The fan thankfully responded, writing that they had a feeling it wasnt!…
Kellys final episode hasnt been revealed as of now, but its clear the end is near since news of her being let go from the daytime drama was first reported in August.
It was reported that she would be killed off this fall. Although a date hasnt been specified, Kelly did share an Instagram post on October 6 that she was filming her last scene on General Hospital. She captioned the post: “Last scene with the Davis girls. Still doesnt make any sense to me.” The since-deleted post included a behind-the-scene photo with her her soap mother and sisters: Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis) and Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing Davis).
Sam was confirmed as a donor match for Lulu. Sam got prepped for transplant surgery on Thursdays episode. As she was getting ready for her surgery to help Lulu, who was in a coma and in need of a liver because of cirrhosis, Sam got visited by many important people in her life.
