Expectant parents often dive into baby name books or endlessly browse the internet to find that one special name.
A pregnant woman, however, didn’t need to look that far, as she had her heart set on a particular name for years – but her husband isnt onboard.
Sharing her dilemma on Reddit, she wrote: “For years and years, I’ve dreamt of naming my future baby girl Blessica. I have been blessed enough to be pregnant with a baby girl and finally, my dreams are coming true. The only problem is, thanks to my husband, my last name is Blimpson.”
Her husband detests the idea of their daughter being named Blessica; he fears it could lead to bullying and the unfortunate similarity to Jessica Simpson would be too much.
She continued: “I really doubt that anyone Blessica’s age would even know who Jessica Simpson is and I don’t think this fear is worth not naming my baby the name I want to give her the most.”
In search of validation, the mom-to-be reached out for public opinion online, hoping to sway her husband by showing him that people support her choice. Alas, her name choice didn’t quite spark the supportive comments she might have hoped for.
One user quipped: “Blessica is bad and no child should be named that. Blessica Blimpson is objectively hilarious as a name. Sounds like pseudonym that Jessica Simpson uses to check into a hotel.”
Another chimed in with a less-than-flattering portrait: “Blessica sounds like a relentlessly self-righteous, mean girl. But Blessica Blimpson’s eating lunch alone in the bathroom and has an imaginary horse.”
Adding to the string of jests, a third user laughed: “With a last name like Blimpson, how could you *not* name your daughter Blessica?” And yet another added salt to the wound, remarking: “I love how they think their child will be bullied because of the last name and not the ridiculous first name Blessica. That poor girl..”
