CHAOS: US Capitol Under LOCKDOWN As Man Doused in Gas With Torch Gun ARRESTED, BOMB Threats at Polls.Vuong

**Washington D.C.**  The U.S. Capitol was placed under lockdown on Tuesday afternoon following a tense and frightening incident involving a man armed with a gas canister and a torch gun, sparking fears of a potential attack. The individual, later identified as a 42-year-old male from Maryland, was taken into custody after being apprehended near the Capitols east entrance.

Authorities initially responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle, which led them to the suspect. As Capitol Police approached, the man allegedly poured gasoline on himself and attempted to ignite the substance using a torch gun, raising alarms among officers and bystanders. Fortunately, quick-thinking law enforcement officers were able to subdue the individual before he could carry out any violent actions.

We take any threat to our Capitol, our democracy, and the safety of the American people extremely seriously, said Capitol Police Chief, Tom Manger, during a press briefing. This incident is being treated as an isolated situation, but we will investigate every lead to ensure the publics safety.

Authorities were quick to point out that, despite the dramatic scene, the suspect never successfully ignited the gasoline, and there were no injuries reported. The man was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted arson, possession of a dangerous weapon, and terrorism-related threats.

**Bomb Threats Disrupt Polling Locations Across the Nation**

As the Capitol lockdown unfolded, law enforcement agencies across the U.S. were also grappling with a series of coordinated bomb threats targeting polling stations in several swing states. At least a dozen polling sites, including in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia, received threatening phone calls warning of explosive devices planted on the premises.

The FBI, along with local law enforcement, swiftly mobilized to respond to the threats. Voters in some affected districts were temporarily evacuated as bomb squads conducted sweeps of the locations. Fortunately, no explosives were found at any of the polling stations, though authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the threats.

In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) condemned the attacks as cowardly attempts to disrupt the democratic process, adding that security measures would be enhanced at polling locations ahead of the next election.

**Heightened Fears as Election Day Looms**

Both incidents have added to a growing sense of unease about the upcoming elections, as tensions continue to mount over election integrity, political polarization, and concerns about civil unrest. While authorities have assured the public that they are fully prepared to handle any threats, the combination of an armed man near the Capitol and bomb threats at polling places has left many questioning the safety of American democracy.

Experts warn that these kinds of events are likely to escalate as the 2024 election approaches. We are seeing the convergence of political extremism, misinformation, and the weaponization of fear, said Dr. Emily Rasmussen, a political science professor at Georgetown University. Its clear that some groups are willing to go to extreme lengths to disrupt the process, and we need to be vigilant in responding.

For now, the U.S. Capitol has returned to normal operation, though heightened security protocols are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future. As for the man arrested at the Capitol, he is set to appear in court later this week. Authorities have yet to determine a motive, but early reports suggest that the suspect may have been influenced by conspiracy theories related to the upcoming election.

The threats and chaos serve as a grim reminder of the volatile political climate in America, and the urgent need for robust measures to protect both voters and government institutions during an already tense and divisive time.
