On Tuesday, the She’s The Man star posted a weight loss journey update on her Instagram stories to her over half a million followers. The story featured a screenshot from a step-counter app that showed she had walked almost 15,000 steps, a total of 6.6 miles, and climbed 12 flights, putting her one step closer to achieving her weight-loss goal. The screenshot featured the words “Down 6lbs ! 154 lbs now [shocked emoji] !”
Bynes, who had starring roles in She’s The Man, What A Girl Wants, Easy A, and Hairspray, stepped away from her career as an actress, which began when she was just 7 years old, in 2012 amidst legal troubles that included an arrest for a hit-and-run where she was suspected for driving under the influence.
In 2013, the retired actress was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and placed under a conservatorship. A few years later, she admitted to having struggled with substance abuse, particularly with Adderall, and that she was doing her best to rehabilitate herself.
Since being from her conservatorship in 2022, Bynes has been exploring her newfound freedom and leading a normal life in Los Angeles, studying to become a nail tech and working on creative projects, like a podcast and a clothing line.
Last year, Bynes revealed on her Instagram stories that her mental health struggles led to significant weight gain. She confessed, “I’ve gained over 20lbs in the past few months from being depressed.” She added, “I’m doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean. I weigh 162lbs right now and want to get back to 110lbs.”
While she’s got a ways to go to meet her goal, her Instagram update proves that she’s been putting in the work in her weight loss journey.
