Zayn Malik has announced that he has rescheduled his tour dates due to “unforeseen circumstances” following the death of his former band member, Liam Payne.
The 31-year-old musician was set to kickstart his tour in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 20 and 21, but has since rescheduled the shows. Tickets for both concerts will now be postponed for a month from now in December, although the singer did not specify why exactly he needed to switch up the dates.
The Dusk Till Dawn hitmaker took to Instagram to announce the news as he wrote to his 54 million followers: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Zayn ‘Stairway To The Sky’ Edinburgh show originally scheduled for the 20th of November has been rescheduled for 8th of December. And the Edinburgh show for the 21st of November has been rescheduled to the 9th of December.

This comes as Zayn previously had put off his US tour dues due to the devastating loss of his close friend and former bandmate. Liam tragically died after falling from a third-floor balcony at the age of 31 on October 16. Since his untimely passing, there have been three people arrested in his death investigation.
Zayn was originally scheduled to to kick off his tour on October 23 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California, with his final US show planned for November 3 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Additionally, he was slated to begin the UK leg of his tour on November 20 at the O2 Academy in Edinburgh, concluding it on December 4 at Manchester’s O2 Apollo.
Announcing the original switch-up, Zayn took to Instagram and shared: “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.”
