Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s burglar victim crimes have been reported as “sophisticated operations” involving a cartel.
Mahomes’ home in Belton, Missouri, was targeted around midnight on Oct 6. The next day, on Oct 7, a break-in occurred at Kelce’s residence in Leawood, Kansas, resulting in roughly $20,000 in stolen funds. Authorities suspected that the incidents were part of a more extensive process by a South American crime ring known for targeting rich residences across the United States as Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis’s home was also hit, causing him to lose valuable possessions.
“This is a sophisticated operation; its not some guy thats going down to the local pawn shop, said Global Intelligence Consultants security expert Mike Barbieri to FOX4KC. “It doesnt surprise me at all that this crime spree that is going across the entire country is designed by some very sophisticated people in somewhat of a cartel.”

Some of the people that were on the jobsite may know people in these cartels and may be selling the information.”
Mahomes said he was “frustrated” regarding the robbery that happened one night before the Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-13. While nobody involved confirmed if anyone was home for safety purposes, police said that one of Mahomes’ bodyguards called the officers and that no traces of any broken doors for entry were found.
Kelce’s robbery happened during the game, with authorities said to be still investing in the cases. Reports suggested that in order to keep his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift safe, the Chiefs tight end got the couple a hotel for the night after the game. According to Crime Grade, the area has seen an increase in property crimes over the years but is still 40 percent less than every registered zip code in America. Both Kelce and Mahomes have increased the security in their homes as preventative measures.
The Chiefs have maintained the NFL’s best record at 9-1 throughout the alarming safety concerns. With both superstars performing under expectations, Kansas City has relied on its stout defense, which is top ten in points prevented, and has given up the third least yards in the league with 2975.
Kansas City is coming off its first defeat with a 30-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. After throwing for just 196 yards and two interceptions with three touchdowns, Mahomes said the Panther’s defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero, will present a challenge that he’s ready for.
“I played against him when he was in Denver. He gets his guys in the right position. They have a lot of talented players and they play hard,” said Mahomes. “It’ll be a great challenge for us going there to play them off two wins, so they’re going to be hungry.”
