Washington DC girls, 13 and 14, took selfies after stomping on disabled man in savage murder.Vuong

Two teen girls were found guilty of stomping a 64-year-old disabled man to death.

On Monday a judge in Washington, D.C. found the girls, 13 and 14 years old, guilty of second-degree murder, assault and conspiracy to commit assault in the death of Reggie Brown, Law & Crime reported. The 13-year-old was also found guilty of tampering with physical evidence.

The girls face imprisonment until they are 21 years old when they are sentenced next month. The attorneys for both of the girls took issue with the verdicts, with the lawyer for the 13-year-old arguing his client should have been charged only with assault, according to the Washington Post.

She did not have any intent to kill, lawyer Geoffrey Harris said. His death was not intentional. She was only 12 at the time. She was a follower, not a leader.

The 14-year-olds attorney said her client wasnt even involved, the Post reported. She was not part of this, lawyer Victoria Clark told the paper. The prosecutor has not proven she was part of the attack. The evidence is unreliable, untrustworthy and unacceptable.

Brown was attacked on Oct. 17, 2023 while on the way to his Northwest D.C home Georgia Avenue and Rittenhouse Street when the beating occurred. The medical examiner ruled Brown’s death a homicide as a result of of blunt force trauma, according to Fox 5. Police said they believe that he was attacked randomly.

The teens accused of beating Brown to death were reportedly at a skating rink in Maryland the night of the killing after skipping school, according to The Washington Post. Cellphone video and surveillance footage showed the savage beating as the group of girls kicked, stomped and punched Brown, according to the Daily Mail.

Further investigation revealed that the teens discussed the killing over Instagram messages. Months after the brutal beating five juveniles were arrested and charged in the attack.

In October a 15-year-old girl pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of assault with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to three years in a juvenile detention facility. As part of her plea deal, the teen was required to testify at the trial of two of her codefendants, according to a report from local CBS affiliate WUSA.

She told jurors that the five girls had been at a skate park in Maryland before returning to her home. While looking for something else to do, the juvenile witness said she suggested they go out and find someone to beat up.

Asked why she would suggest such a thing, the teen reportedly responded, Because we were bored. That’s when they spotted Brown, who was already being attacked by a man wearing a blue coat who then approached the girls, WRC reported.

The man approached the girls and the 15-year-old asked if they could help beat Brown up and he said yes, she testified. One of the defendants reportedly recorded the attack on her cellphone, which showed several of the girls stomping on Browns head and lashing him with his belt.

Following the beating, the girls reportedly took selfies. Malda Brown, a sister of the victim, told WRC she was satisfied with the outcome on Monday of the two teens in the case, but added, we are also not going to stop until we get justice with this guy who initiated this whole thing with my younger brother.
