The incident took place less than a week ago on Sunday, November 10. A neighbor told the Daily News that they overheard a brief struggle in the hallway before the violent act took place. She told the news outlet: “I heard them fighting. No words, just (banging) in the hallway. It was fast. It wasn’t like they was fighting for a long time.”
Upon realizing there was something wrong, the neighbor called 911 but by the time police arrived it was too late. After finding Kadeem with a knife lodged in his chest, the father of one was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Saxon was also transported to the hospital after also sustaining minor injuries during the altercation.
After the heartbreaking news of their son’s death was announced, Grant’s father spoke to the Daily News expressing his grief over his son’s unexpected death. He said: “He was just a loving kid who was there for his family and his daughter. It’s just so sad that she has to grow up without a father.”
Saxon’s mother, who chose to not share her name, defended her son as she told the news outlet: “I don’t know what happened, but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it. Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody.”
She continued: “Dynus will protect himself, he’s a human being, you know what I’m saying. He’s young. I don’t know what kind of situation he had got himself into. He’ll dance, he’ll have fun under some circumstances. But, you know, he’s really not an aggressor,” and concluded:” Whatever happened it was not murder.”
