According to police, Jazlynn Roush, a Las Vegas woman suspected of killing her 68-year-old roommate with cocaine laced with fentanyl, lived her life for almost two weeks while the body of the murdered individual was concealed in her freezer.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Roush’s terrifying secret was revealed only when an office manager at the property where victim Monique Gilbertson’s mobile home was situated started to notice oddities, like Gilbertson’s car being parked differently and her dogs barking louder than usual.
After efforts to get in touch with Gilbertson failed, the manager called authorities on November 6 to conduct a welfare check. According to her arrest report, which was initially obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, she had been living with Roush, who police identified as Daniel Roush despite the victim legally changing her name in Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District in 2022, after meeting her at a Home Depot and hiring her to perform handy work.
In an attempt to get Gilbertson to answer, police knocked on the door of the couple’s home in the 5500 block of Tres Piedras Road, which is approximately eight miles east of the Las Vegas strip.
Officers entered the home and located two individuals inside who could not provide officers with the location of the elderly female, LVMPD officials said in a press release. While officers searched the home they located a deceased female in a freezer. Both individuals were detained as investigators determined their involvement.
The other person that police found was Roush’s wife, who had been frequently staying at the house with her and Gilbertson. According to the arrest report, Roush acknowledged in interviews that she discovered Gilbertson dead about a week before Halloween and that the “elderly” woman had used drugs.

Roush reportedly told police that she put Gilbertson’s body in the freezer and carried on with her day because she was afraid of the consequences. Roush is accused of saying, “I put her in the icebox because I didn’t know what to do.” “I had her in the icebox until I could figure it out.”According to her criminal complaint, Roush allegedly gave Gilbertson cocaine laced with fentanyl, and prosecutors accused her of “willfully, unlawfully, feloniously, and with malice” causing Gilbertson’s death. This is what Roush failed to disclose to police.

Roush’s wife called the police and claimed to have witnessed the suspect giving Gilbertson cocaine laced with fentanyl. With the woman’s remains in the freezer, investigators think Roush, who describes herself on Facebook as a “trans female just trying to find [her] place in this world,” stayed in the mobile home for roughly two weeks.
