Conor McGregor was accompanied by his partner, Dee Devlin, and several other family members at court, where he was found liable for the rape of a woman in a two-week civil case.

Early Friday morning, the jury recommenced at Dublin’s High Court, where McGregor was in attendance alongside Devlin, his parents, sister and brother-in-law. Following eight days of evidence and three days consisting of closing speeches and the judge’s charge, the jury consisting of eight women and four men found the UFC star liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a hotel in south Dublin in December of 2018.

Per the civil action, McGregor is alleged to have “brutally raped and battered” Ms. Hand – who also goes by Nikita Ni Laimhin – in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel. As a result of the ruling, the 36-year-old is now required to pay $257,000 in damages.

While exiting the courthouse following the jury’s decision, McGregor refused to provide comment to the sea of reporters that engulfed him as he sped into his car. Taking to social media, he wrote: “I will be appealing today’s decision. The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide.”

Speaking to members of the media, Ms. Hand said: “I am overwhelmed by the support I have received from everybody. I want to thank my legal team and my three barristers, they have bene amazing from start to finish.

“I want to thank the justice, the jury and all the witnesses. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone at the sexual assault unit at the Rotunda assault unit, especially my own doctor.

“I want to thank the rape advice centre, I want to thank all the guards and the ambulance crew. I want to thank the men and women who have supported me throughout this trial. For every person who reached out to me, a card, email, everything, it has not gone unnoticed. Thank you, I really appreciate it so much.
