The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Fatman Scoop, whose cause of death has been officially confirmed following his sudden collapse on stage in late August. The rapper, known for his energetic performances, tragically passed away at the age of 56 during a concert in Connecticut.
According to the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III, succumbed to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Hypertensive heart disease is typically a result of long-standing high blood pressure, while atherosclerosis involves plaque buildup in the arteries, leading to their hardening and narrowing.
The heartbreaking news of his passing was shared by his tour manager, Birch Michael, also known as Pure Cold, who took to social media to express his grief. “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop,” he wrote. “You taught me how to be the man I am today. Reports indicate that just days before his collapse, Fatman Scoop exhibited no apparent health issues and was described as being in good form. Sharron Elkabas, his representative, noted that he maintained a clean diet, regularly juicing fresh fruits and vegetables. “I spoke to him on Monday after he did a show in Paris, and he was in good spirits. This news has come as a huge and devastating shock; it’s still sinking in,” she shared.
