Swifties across the United States are strategizing about how to get their hands on a Black Friday special.
Taylor Swift revealed that she teamed up with Target to release two exciting merch items for fans. The first of which is a coffee table book to commemorate the Eras Tour which spanned across a year and half. The pop star toured the globe, bringing her 3.5 hour concert to excited fans and documenting the process along the way. Taylor and her team put together a book full of photographs and insight from the artist herself.
Taylor said in a statement: “Here is the official retrospective of the most wondrous tour of my life, my beloved Eras Tour. Thank you to the fans who came to this show. You were what made The Eras Tour what it became.”
Additionally, she’s set to release another vinyl record, but this one is particularly special it’s the Anthology. When Taylor released her record-breaking album, The Tortured Poets Department, she followed it up with a second release just a few hours later called The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. While fans were able to stream the expanded album, physical copies were not initially available.
The Anthology features the tracks The Black Dog, imgonnagetyouback, The Albatross, Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, How Did It End?, So High School, I Hate It Here, thanK you aIMee, I Look in People’s Windows, The Prophecy, Cassandra, Peter, The Bolter, and Robin. While technically The Manuscript is considered a part of the Anthology, it was previously available on physical copies as a bonus track.
Here’s the catch: The products go on sale only at Target on Black Friday. They’ll be available online the next day, but the retailer didn’t specify what stock and inventory looked like, leaving fans to wonder if they’ll be able to snag them.
A fan on X, previously known as Twitter, wrote: “Is anybody really worried about getting a book tomorrow? I honestly am not planning on going to target early in the morning, maybe afternoon? Do you think they will still have them? Or restock them later?”
At one location, a fan took an early photo of the store’s set up for the massive shopping holiday. It appeared to show two separate lines designated one for Swifties and one for the standard holiday shoppers. Inquisitive fans decided to take matters into their own hands, prodding into customer service representatives who reportedly claimed the store has a special process in mind. However, reports about quantities of each product varied.
A fan claimed: “I just learned that at my Target for the first two hours they are open there is a separate line going to guest services to buy the Eras Tour book so there will be no mayhem. After, it will be available in two different parts of the store. There will be a lot!!!”
However, another fan countered: “Went by my target to see if they have two separate lines for the general population and Taylor Swift book and the Anthology and they did not but i hope they do tomorrow. Will wake up early and get on line. I hope to get a book before 7.”
Another fear seemed to bubble among the fandom scalpers and resellers. A battle between Swifties and resellers has spanned over years as tickets for the Eras Tour were previously bought up by bots and put on resale, jacking up the prices. When it comes to products and inventory, Swifties have observed a similar occurrence. However, this has, for the most part, been an online issue. Their fear this time, though, is they’ll be joining the line in person, making it harder for real fans to get copies.
A fan wrote: “Lets get one thing clear. Im not worried theyll be too many Taylor fans at Target tomorrow Im worried there will be too many assholes trying to get everything to resell.”
Some fans were committed to getting the book, vinyl, and CD… so much so that they decided to camp out. It became a controversial move on social media, though, as one wrote: “what the f**k do you mean people are already lining up at target??? im getting there at 4:30 and probably gonna sit in my car until theres a decent amount of people yall are actually insane please spend time with your families.”
Another fan said: “am I sick for being excited to camp out at target on Black Friday??? Ive never camped out for Black Friday ever especially since the deals have just gotten worse as time goes on but for taylor its worth.”
A third fan wrote: “hey so people are already lining up at target and i have so many questions. why are we doing that? yall are going to wait outside for 15+ hours? i am so over this.”
