Kate Hudson attended the AMAs in a stunning silver and green halter dress, but some fans were not impressed and compared the look to a ‘bathroom rug’
Kate Hudson graced the American Music Awards’ 50th Anniversary Special in a silvery-green halter dress, now being likened to a “bathroom rug” by some fans.
The shimmering silver gown, from Fendi Couture’s fall 2023 collection, showcased a mermaid-tail silhouette that highlighted the actress’ physique. For the event, she styled her blonde locks in a sleek, wet look. Kate’s make-up look comprised of glittering eyeshadow, rosy blush, and a glossy nude pink lip. The actress added sparkle with twisted bangle bracelets, matching hoop earrings, and a diamond ring, reports the Express US.
The Golden Globe winner made a special appearance at the music award shows special celebrating it’s 50th anniversary since it’s beginning in 1974. Kate presented a couple times during the festive event where she introduced Green Day and Chaka Khan before their performances. She also shared the red carpet spotlight with the I’m Every Women performer.
Social media was abuzz with fans critiquing the actress’s dress choice. There was an array of divided reactions to the Knives Out: Glass Onion star’s attire. One fan wrote on X formerly Twitter: “Kate Hudson’s dress looks like it was sewn from bathroom rugs.” A second fan chimed in “Why does Kate Hudson look like she’s wearing my granny’s old bathroom rug set?”

While many criticized the actress, some came to her defense. One fan said: “Kate Hudson outfit is rocking our worlds! Looking so chic” Another said: “Kate Hudson’s dress looks like a bathroom rug a little but I kinda like it lmao.”
The star-studded celebration also saw performances by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Raye, Nelly, and more. There were other special presenters aside from Kate such as Samuel L. Jackson, Cedric the Entertainer, Jimmy Kimmel as well as pre-recorded videos from Jennifer Lopez and Reba McEntire. The two-hour special honored 50 years of music on the AMAs which aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. This was a first for the award show and the network since the AMAs have been on ABC since the beginning.

The 45-year-old’s appearance at the award show comes as she celebrated her daughter Rani’s sixth birthday on Wednesday, October 2. She posted a sweet tribute to her daughter on Instagram with a carousel of photos of Rani celebrating her birthday. She captioned the post: “My beautiful, fun, courageous, caring, empathetic, silly, happy lady. 6 years have flown. we celebrate your joie de vivre! Today and everyday! Libra Lady. Happy happy birthday.”
Kate shares Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She also has two other children from previous relationships: 20-year-old Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson and 13-year-old Bingham with ex- ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy.
