The woman was found to have a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit and crashed her car on the wrong side of the road with her 2-year-old unbuckled in the front seat.
An Arizona woman who was convicted of a drunk driving crash that took the life of her 2-year-old daughter has been sentenced to over two decades in prison for her crimes.
Andrea Raeann Crespin was convicted on charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or instrument earlier this year stemming from an August 2023 crash that killed her 2-year-old daughter. Pima County Superior Court Judge Kellie Johnson sentenced Crespin on Monday to 12 and 10 years respectively to be served consecutively. She was also sentenced to an additional four months for aggravated DUI and is being given credit for 342 days times served.
She was originally charged with second-degree murder but had the charges reduced in exchange for a guilty plea.

In August 2023 Crespin was driving her 2023 Mazda on the wrong side of the road on Interstate-10, near Vail, Arizona when she slammed into oncoming traffic. Crespin’s daughter was in the front seat not wearing her seatbelt. Crespin struck both an oncoming Toyota as well as Volkswagen Two children, a 1-year-old and a 7-month-old were in the Toyota at the time of the crash but escaped the incident uninjured. The occupants of the Volkswagen were also uninjured.
It was later discovered that Crepin’s blood alcohol level was .279 more than three times the legal limit, according to police.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety according to a press release received a report in July 2020 about Crespin and the child’s father alleging “neglect and physical abuse to the child by Ms. Crespin and the child’s father” and “there was a domestic violence incident between the parents and the child was present. The DCS investigation resulted in a dependency matter in Pima County,” the statement read.
The family completed all the provided services and the child was returned home. The dependency was dismissed on April 22, 2021,” The release went on to say that the “allegations of physical abuse were unsubstantiated and the allegations of neglect were substantiated.”
