Meghan Markle has shared a rare peek into her fun-filled holiday plans with Prince Harry and their kids, but one source has warned it could be bittersweet for them.
The Duchess of Sussex admitted that her joy around Christmas grows “every year” as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are growing up. However, a source said the season carries a tinge of sorrow for Harry and Meghan as they’re reportedly “missing” the royal family.
The source said, “For Harry. it reminds him that he doesn’t have any of his side of the family to celebrate with. The kids won’t be seeing their cousins, and that was one of his favorite things growing up all the cousins playing together at Sandringham. It may well even hurt seeing all the royals together, going to church and just enjoying each other’s company.”

Meanwhile, Meghan also faces emotional challenges during the holidays due to family tensions. While she’ll probably celebrate with her mother, Doria Ragland, she remains estranged from her father Thomas Markle.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, the source added, “Meghan only has her mom, as there’s almost zero chance of a reconciliation between her and her dad.” In her Netflix documentary, the Duchess of Sussex revealed she cut ties with her father before marrying Prince Harry after he was caught staging photoshoots with paparazzi for money.
As Christmas nears, Harry’s thoughts may turn to his own estranged family, including King Charles and Kate Middleton, both of whom have battled cancer this year. The last time Harry spent Christmas in the UK was in 2018, when Meghan was pregnant with Archie.
He will likely see photos of Prince William and Kate accompanying Charles, Camilla, and other relatives on their traditional Christmas morning walk to Church at St Mary Magdalene – a service he used to attend with them. These family memories could stir feelings of regret in Harry as he reflects on his children’s lack of connection with their cousins.
The source shared, “They both really wish that they could have all their families together and have a huge Christmas but they know that will never happen. So they have to make new memories and traditions with their children and those close to them.”
