The Las Vegas Raiders cant buy a win in 2024, as the team suffered a heartbreaking 19-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. Antonio Pierces squad competed with one of the NFLs best teams for most of the game, but a dropped snap by quarterback Aidan OConnell in the waning seconds of the contest ended the Raiders potential game-winning drive and handed Las Vegas their eighth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 2-10.
With the defeat against the Chiefs, the Raiders have been eliminated from playoff contention. Las Vegas hasnt won a playoff game since the 2002 AFC Championship game and has qualified for the postseason just two times in the last 22 seasons.
Though Raiders fans dont have much to cheer about in 2024, the franchises draft positioning will be the primary focus in the final five games of the campaign. According to Tankathon, Las Vegas currently holds the No.2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The New York Giants, who are also 2-10 and suffered a Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, own the No.1 overall pick.
There will be a plethora of talented prospects available when the Raiders are on the clock in April, but Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders seems like the obvious choice for Las Vegas. Sanders has been one of the most accurate quarterbacks in college football over the last two years and is the most pro-ready signal caller in this years draft class.
Additionally, the 22-year-old has already been seen having a conversation with Raiders owner Mark Davis at a Las Vegas Aces game on Oct.4. Sanders also has a strong relationship with Raiders minority owner and Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, as the Colorado signal-caller has a NIL deal with Bradys clothing brand TB12 and has also trained with the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
Mark Davis also stated during a press conference after Brady joined the ownership group that the five-time Super Bowl MVP will help the Raiders select a quarterback in the future.
Though there is no official report that the Raiders are interested in Sanders, the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner should be near the top of the franchises draft board, and boasting the No.2 overall pick is a fantastic step toward bringing Shedeur Sanders to Las Vegas.
