Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet hugely impressed Pat McAfee and the College GameDay crew during his role as the guest picker on championship weekend.
Ahead of Saturdays broadcast, fans were surprised to see Chalamet chosen as the guest picker on the college football program that was being held in Atlanta ahead of the SEC title game between Georgia and Texas. However, despite the New York-born actor having little connection to Power 5 football, he more than held his own.
Chalamet joined the desk in Atlanta and made a series of well-researched, well-informed picks while backing up each choice. During his spot, the Oscar-nominated actor rattled off specific statistics and referenced teams progress about previous seasons while name-dropping lesser-known stars like Ohio quarterback Parker Navarro and SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings.
Chalamet particularly stood out for his picks for the SWAC Jackson State and the MAC, where he backed Ohio. He said: I wanna go 6-0.
Jackson State, eight wins in a row, 11 all-conference players this should be a comfortable, easy win for them, Chalamet boldly declared to the delight of fellow GameDay panelists Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit. Instead of picking a favorite in the MAC title game between Miami of Ohio and Ohio, Chalamet explained why he expected an upset.
The Red Hawks defense looks good, but Im looking at fourth-year quarterback Parker Navarro, Chalamet said. Sixty-five percent completion rate. If he can get going, hell tilt this in favor of the Bobcat. Im going underdog Bobcats here, underdog Bobcats.

His bold pick for the Bobcats earned him a stern handshake from McAfee. Chalamet thought long and hard about his pick for the SEC championship but decided to go against the home Bulldogs in favor of the Longhorns.
Fans were impressed with Chalamets performance. College Sports Only referenced the popular Shaquille ONeal meme, posting to X: Timothee Chalamet, I owe you an apology I wasnt familiar with your game.
Meanwhile, FOX NFL personality Peter Schrager wrote: Timothee Chalamet came prepared, researched, and referenced the Pony Express. Maybe the best College Gameday guest picker yet. NYC guy. Respect.
Chalamet, who also picked Arizona State, SMU, Louisiana, and Oregon, is 2-0 so far on his picks. He was the only person on the show to pick Ohio over Miami (OH) and the Bobcats won 38-3.
