Hollywood film tycoon Tyler Perry has given an intriguing response when questioned about his relationship with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and her spouse, Prince Harry.
The 55-year-old filmmaker, who boasts a net worth of approximately $1.4 billion due to his array of film studios and other enterprises, lent one of his grand mansions to the former Suits actress, Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, when they relocated to California in the summer of 2020.
This close bond was further examined in Meghan and Harry’s 2022 Netflix documentary series, which revealed that the couple had not known the cinema mogul before requesting to borrow one of his residences. It was also disclosed that Tyler had extended the use of his private jet and security team to the couple while they were settling in.

Footage showed Meghan expressing gratitude for Tyler’s generosity, admitting she broke down in tears, and found it easier to “open up to someone who knows nothing at all” about her. However, Tyler has now hinted at some annoyance that discussions about Meghan can sometimes eclipse everything else.
In an interview with The Times, Tyler was asked how he assisted Harry and Meghan in preparing for their American move, to which he responded that the “conversational intimacy evaporat[ed]”. He then clarified that Meghan was originally from California, so there was no need for her to prepare for any change.
The actor from “Why Did I Get Married? ” then stated: “But I will say this: what I learnt about mentioning them – because there’s this insatiable appetite to know all about them – is that any question that is asked becomes the headline of anything I say.”
Tyler has been revealed as the godfather of Meghan and Harry’s daughter, Lilibet, and has previously expressed his adoration for her. During an episode of the “Let’s Talk Off-Camera With Kelly Ripa” podcast last year, he referred to his goddaughter as Little Lili, saying: “She’s so adorable. Oh, she’s so beautiful. She’s just so beautiful.”
He also showered Meghan and Harry, along with their children Archie and Lili, with praise, stating: “They make beautiful babies-that’s all I’ll say. They make some beautiful kids. Archie and Lili are beautiful.”
In the same conversation, he shared that Meghan had relied on him for support during her move in 2020, reports the Mirror.
He disclosed: “I got the tremendous sense of how overwhelming it all was for her. I got the sense that-listen, I know what it’s like to have a father who is not great, so seeing some of the things he was doing, I felt that she was very much isolated and alone.”
He concluded by saying: “I wanted to be a safe place-not only for her, but you know, there are many people who don’t have a name or are not a part of a royal family who just need somebody to be there for them.”
