A man is facing a murder charge after a row over the placement of a bottle of hot sauce exploded into savage violence, say cops.
George Vigil, 19, is now accused of one count of murder in the second degree, according to the Denver Police Department after the fatal incident at a house near Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, the home of the Denver Broncos.
Officers said in a statement that the alleged knife attack took place at about 5.21pm on Sunday September 22. They said on arriving at the address they found one victim suffering from ‘apparent sharp force injuries.’ They were taken to hospital but pronounced dead.

Police said: “The preliminary findings of the investigation reveal that the suspect and victim were known to each other and had an argument that escalated into a physical altercation and stabbing. Investigators identified George Vigil as the suspect, placed him under arrest, and he is currently being held for investigation of second-degree murder.
“Per standard protocol, the final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney’s Office. The Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity and cause and manner of death.”
According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by Law&Crime 911 dispatchers received a call about the stabbing in which voices could be heard yelling in the background. The woman in the call reportedly told the dispatcher she was with “two gentlemen and a female, and one gentleman with a knife” and said the injury had struck “the gentleman on the left side of his ribs.”
They said: “I just need somebody here right away…We need an ambulance here right away. Right now. Right now. He’s bleeding to death, please.” One witness whose identity is redacted in the affidavit was said to have told police that the victim has some sort of relationship with Vigil and earlier that evening “arrived to visit as he usually does more than one time per week” to “check on” something or someone there.”
They described the argument and resulting violence as stemming from the location of a bottle of hot sauce. The affidavit read: “[The man] wanted to make a sandwich and asked where the hot sauce was. George VIGIL stated that the bottle was in his bedroom upstairs.
“An argument erupted between family members over the bottle of hot sauce, which resulted in both [redacted] and [redacted] physically separating [the man] and George VIGIL away from each other. [The man] verbally challenged George VIGIL to fight by making statements to the effect of ‘Let’s take this outside,’ and began approaching him again.”
The witness went on to say they saw the defendant “swing an arm” before the man “fell to the ground and began bleeding profusely,” which sparked the 911 call, says the affidavit.
Vigil first appeared in court on Monday and was reportedly ordered to be detained without bond.
