A man who brutally killed his co-worker in 2023 has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.
A former Colorado Topgolf employee has been charged with the brutal murder of one of his fellow employees. Victor Salazar-Guarache, 27, pleaded guilty on Thursday to second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder in the murder of his 22-year-old coworker Bryce Holden and the wounding of his manager. According to Law and Crime, the agreement he made with prosecutors carries a 48-year prison sentence.
The horrible event happened in December of last year when Salazar-Guarache left work early an arrest affidavit obtained by ABC affiliate KMGH read. According to the affidavit, the man worked at the putting zone as a dishwasher though the reasons behind his early departure remain unclear. Police wrote that the man left the establishment for an hour before returning around 12:50am when other employees, including Holden and the unidentified manager, were also leaving.
Police stated that Salazar-Guarache was parked and waiting when the two men approached, got out of his car and assumed a “shooting stance.” It was reported by the Denver Gazette that Salazar-Guarache then started shooting at the pair. Police later shared that Holden was shot several times while the kitchen manager dashed back into the building.

The man later told police that Salazar-Guarache continued to shoot the victim even after he had fallen to the ground. It was revealed by authorities that Salazar-Guarache fired a total of 12 bullets into the man before getting into his car and driving off. KMGH later reported that a Lyft driver, who was at the driving range picking up a worker, saw the entire altercation and even saw Salazar-Guarache laughing as he climbed back into his car and sped away from the scene.
Law enforcement officers rushed Holdon to the hospital but it was too late and the man succumbed to his injuries. The news of the shooting devastated Holdon’s family. “He was my baby,” Holdon’s father, Rod, told Denver-based NBC affiliate KUSA. “He was always making jokes. He would have a smirk on his face when he was sitting there razzing ya. That’s just how he was.”

According to Rod, Holdon had been teaching himself Spanish and was planning to move to Barcelona within the next two years. “Bryce had deeply rooted values,” Rod Holden told the outlet. “He was always trying to improve himself. He always tried to see the best in everybody, but if he thought you could do better, he would call you out on it. There’s a face behind the news story. There’s a soul behind the news story, and I want people to know that.”
Topgolf also issued a statement about the brazen murder. “We are shocked and heartbroken by the incident that occurred in our Thornton venue parking lot, and we grieve for those impacted by this senseless act,” the statement read. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies, whom we appreciate greatly, and we are focused on providing support to our Topgolf team during this difficult time. As this is an ongoing police investigation, we will not be commenting further at this time. We also want to salute all other first responders who assisted with skill and care.”
