Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy believes the U.S. presidential election is over after Donald Trump survived an alleged assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania
Dave Portnoy has declared the U.S. presidential election to be over after watching scenes of the alleged assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump.
On X, the Barstool Sports founder believes current U.S. President Joe Biden has no shot of beating the 78-year-old. “I just landed and missed an (assassination) attempt,” he wrote to his followers. “Holy —-. What a bad — reaction from Trump. The election is over. He’s the next President. The Dems should give up. They can’t beat him now.”
During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was speaking to his followers in an attempt to garner support for the upcoming election in hopes of winning his second term. As he was speaking to the crowd turned to his right, pops were heard in the background as the former President quickly felt the side of his head.
Trump immediately dropped to the ground behind the podium as Secret Service agents rushed to protect the former President from further harm. The 78-year-old was then brought to his feet with blood appearing to come out of the top of his right ear.
Before leaving the stage, the former President raised up his right fist, much to the delight of the crowd on hand. From there, he was ushered into a motorcade while law enforcement cleared the area to make sure it was safe for the spectators to disperse from the scene.
After being taken away to safety, Trump’s campaign team released the following statement: “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”

It also has been reported that two people are dead following the incident. The suspected shooter and a bystander have been declared dead after shots were fired at around 6:13 p.m. ET, with Pennsylvania District Attorney Goldinger confirming the deaths.
Portnoy is not the only sports figure who has commented on the incident. Former NBA player Royce White, who also is running for Senate in Minnesota as a Republican, wrote on X that he believes this moment will empower more people to vote for Trump in the upcoming election. “Attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump today in Pennsylvania,” White wrote to his followers.
“All patriots watch your 6. Thank God the president survived. His bravery will go down as a seminal moment in American history. We will not take a single ——- back step. We will win! God Bless America!”
MMA legend Conor McGregor also had his thoughts, writing on X: “A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses. But he is not.
“He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States.”
