A recent study by Hennessey Digital has unveiled the most popular autumn-related baby names in the U.S. for 2023, with Jack taking the lead. The name was given to 8,696 babies, of which 13 were girls, making it a unisex choice. The name is famously associated with jack-o’-lanterns, a staple of the Halloween season.

Following Jack, the second most popular name was Asher, with 7,933 newborns receiving this name, which means “blessed,” reflecting the spirit of Thanksgiving. In third place is Scarlett, chosen for 6,294 babies, a name that resonates with the vibrant colors of autumn.

  • Hazel (4th place, 6,178 babies): Named after hazelnuts, which are harvested in autumn.
  • Rowan (5th place, 5,480 babies): Connected to the Rowan trees that produce red berries during the fall.
  • Ivy (6th place, 5,059 babies): A name that embodies the season’s greenery.
  • Willow (7th place, 4,773 babies): Known for its striking autumn foliage.
  • Paisley (8th place, 3,732 babies): A name gaining popularity in recent years.
  • Adam (9th place, 3,474 babies): A classic name with enduring appeal.
  • Hunter (10th place, 3,454 babies): Evokes the traditional fall activity of hunting.

Jason Hennessey, CEO of Hennessey Digital, remarked on the trend of traditional names like Jack becoming unisex, suggesting that modern parents are increasingly drawn to names that transcend gender norms. The findings reflect a shift towards unique and eclectic naming choices as new parents look for meaningful connections to the seasons.
