The additional attention Travis Kelce has received in the last year could just be what the 34-year-old star wants if his mother is to be believed.
Donna Kelce knows her son better than anyone outside of the Kelce family and it stands to reason that all the attention Travis has garnered is playing right into his hands. Travis is no stranger to attention, however, as he was an integral piece in helping the Kansas City Chiefs win three Super Bowl championships.
That said, even he could not have foreseen just how massively his profile has skyrocketed ever since he started dating Taylor Swift. Nevertheless, Donna believes Travis is taking the attention in stride and is relishing it.

“He’s always been one to be in the limelight,” Donna said in an interview with Extra. “He loves attention. I mean it, he’s always dancing, always joking around, always having fun… he just loves life,”
Donna added that with how everything has gone for the star tight end, she believes her son is on a path that will lead to bigger and better things. “It just seems like his life is on a trajectory that just is rising every single day,” Donna continued.
“Every time I turn around, I’m seeing him doing something different – whether it’s on the golf course, or at a concert, or whatever, he’s just having his best life right now. … A lot of the antics that he does, whether it’s on the field or elsewhere … even with his clothes sometimes, he’s like, ‘I just want a smile out of people.’”

And while Travis might be enjoying the additional attention he is receiving, he is also on the receiving end of more critical attention due to his relationship with Swift. Swift, the biggest pop star in the world, attracts attention wherever she goes and whenever she does anything, and because Travis is dating her, the same can be said about him.
Through three games in the 2024 NFL season, the 34-year-old has only 69 receiving yards on eight receptions. This comes a year after his streak of seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards was snapped when he recorded 984 for the year.
Speaking with ESPN, Travis explained how he understands that his production has slipped and is working to get back on track after his slow start, especially as the Chiefs look to win their third straight title.
“I think this year stats may say something different, but at the same time you’ll see the same person inside this building, and that’s all I really care about,’ he said, per ESPN. “I’m my own worst critic. Everything outside of this building is just noise.”
Still, Travis believes star quarterback Patrick Mahomes will still make the right decision, especially as more eyes are trained on him. “I’m fortunate. I’ve had the success in the past and I realized that the ball can’t always go to one person,” Travis continued.
“It can’t always get in my hands, but at the same time, I got all the trust in [Patrick Mahomes] to make the right decision, and he’s been making great decisions. We might not be putting up as [many] points as we want to, but at the same time we’re 3-0 and we’re doing something right.”
