In the early hours of this Monday (30), an Azul Linhas Aéreas flight that departed from Recife bound for Rio de Janeiro had to make an emergency landing in Salvador due to technical problems.

The plane, which was supposed to arrive at Galeão without stopping, diverted its route and landed in the capital of Bahia at around 5 a.m. Although the company issued a statement promising support to passengers, the incident took on a more serious tone when actress and singer Isis Broken, who was on board, reported having suffered transphobia during the flight.

Isis, known for her role in the soap opera “No Rancho Fundo”, reported that she was disrespected by the crew when she called her “sir” after identifying herself as “Isis” and asking them to use the feminine pronoun. “It was completely disrespectful,” said the actress, who identifies as a transvestite.

She also criticized the lack of transparency about the technical problem: “They didn’t explain what was happening, we only found out through signals during the flight.” The report sparked outrage on social media, where fans expressed support for the actress and demanded action from the airline.

Although Azul issued a statement assuring that passengers would be relocated and receive support, the company did not comment on the accusations of transphobia made by Isis Broken. Fans and followers of the artist demand a response from the company, while praising Isis’ courage in exposing the case publicly. “Azul needs to be held accountable for the transphobic attitudes and lack of preparation of its employees,” wrote an outraged follower.
