A Virginia man is facing seconddegree murder charges after allegedly strangling his 1yearold son to death in his bed where his mother found him according to police
Nathaniel Lee Edmonds 24 was arrested on Sept 18 after police responded to the couples Front Royal Virginia home the night before for reports of their child being in cardiac arrest according to a police press release Medics from Warren County Fire and Rescue took the boy to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead
The boys mother had left the 1yearold in the care of Edmonds after leaving for work When she returned home she found the child unresponsive and immediately called 911 according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Northern Virginia Daily Edmonds was nowhere to be found but authorities were able to use the locator on his phone to track the suspects location

The father Nathaniel Edmonds was nowhere to be found and according to the mother was supposed to be watching him the complaint states In an interview at the hospital the mother admitted that she was working while Edmonds was supposed to be watching him and she came home to her child and found him in the condition that she did
Police located and arrested the suspect and after being interviewed by police Edmonds admitted to choking his son using both of his hands for minutes because the child was not listening and he couldnt take it anymore Authorities have not released the name of the child
Due to the ongoing and sensitive nature of the case no further details will be released at this time the press release said

This was not Edmonds first brush with the law as he was arrested last year on domestic violence related charges according to the Northern Virginia Daily according to court records The court had deferred disposition of that charge until next month
Edmonds appeared in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court the day after his arrest on Sept 19 He is currently being held at the RappahannockShenandoahWarren Regional Jail with no bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec 19
