As the Major League Baseball playoffs are officially underway, General Hospital has been put on the back burner – much to the outrage of fans
General Hospital fans were left raging as the Major League Baseball playoffs overrode the latest episode in the soap series.
After a drama-filled episode at the start of the week, General Hospital fans were left on the edge of their seats as they’re force to wait three more days before they can get another dose of their favorite soap. On Tuesday, October 1 the Major League Baseball playoffs aired on ABC at the same time General Hospital’s regularly scheduled time slot with the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros facing off. And as the annual tournament kicks off, the soap opera will be taking a hiatus.
And as fans realized they’re not going to get a new episode, they took to social media sharing their frustration over the switch up. On X, formerly Twitter, one fan complained: “Whatchu gonna do about #GH #GeneralHospital? I don’t care about Detroit and I HATE the Astros. @GeneralHospital on @hulu? Hmmmmmmmmmm?”
And another fan fumed: “NO NEW EPISODE TODAY BECAUSE OF BASEBALL!” And another viewer joked: “Ya’ll complain non-stop about how awful #GH is and it should be canceled but today you’re complaining because it’s pre-empted. I can’t.”
General Hospital fans were left fuming as a baseball game aired rather than a new episode
A third fan called for a return of the soap and for fan-favorite actress Kelly Monaco to make a reappearance. They wrote: “We don’t want baseball @ABCNetwork. We want Kelly Monaco back on #GeneralHospital. There is still time to hit a home run for her 21st anniversary. Make this right!”
This comes after it was leaked that Kelly was fired from General Hospital over the summer. According to sources close to the TV series, Kelly’s character Sam McCall was reportedly written off the show this fall. Sam is expected to be killed off in the coming weeks despite being a staple of the show for over two decades.
Ever since the news that Kelly was being dropped from the series, fans have been petitioning for her to stay and are urging writers to rewrite the storyline this season.
