Chanel Maya Banks has been found after her family hadn’t seen or heard from her since October 30.
The actress, best known for her roles in Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, was last seen two weeks ago in Los Angeles and was reported missing by family. Her family such as her mother Judy Singh and cousin Danielle-Tori Singh went to Los Angeles from respectively New York and Toronto to aid in the search for the 36-year-old. TMZ first reported that the law enforcement source told them that she been found safe and sound with no injuries and foul play suspected.
Although the Los Angeles Police Department told ABC7 similarly to what TMZ reported, Chanel’s cousin Danielle-Tori does not believe them. The LAPD also told the outlet that the case was closed and no other details were immediately given. Danielle called the news “fake” and stated she’ll still be handing out Missing Person flyers with Chanel’s face and description on them.

Danielle-Tori told ABC7 on Tuesday, November 12, that police went to a home in Texas after a tip. A woman had answered the door and she said she was Banks. Police showed body cam footage of the meeting to the family and Danielle-Tori said that the woman was not her cousin. She also added that the woman did not resemble how Chanel looked like the last time she was seen which was on a FaceTime call.
“I can tell you in my soul, in my gut, something is not right,” Danielle-Tori said to the outlet on Tuesday. “We’re crossing two weeks now without a word, without a sound. Nothing.”
The family created a GoFundMe page to help in their search and to hire a private investigator. On the fundraising page, Danielle-Tori shared that authorities conducted four total welfare checks at her Playa Vista residence on November 7 and November 8. She also mentioned how she and Chanel’s mother went inside the apartment on November 10 and Chanel’s belongings as well as her dog were all still in the apartment with her vehicle still in the garage.
Danielle-Tori further said that Chanel “does not go anywhere without her little dog” and that she “would never go anywhere without telling her mom or myself.” In an ABC7 interview, she had said how five days with no contact from her cousins was “red flags and alarm bells.” and that Chanel “doesn’t go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom.” She also described Chanel as “more like a big sister” to her.
According to Danielle-Tori, Chanel has been married for over a year and her husband was “being uncooperative with police.” The Toronto resident went on to say that on November 10, a few days after the last welfare check done by the police, he was found with a bruised lip and scratches on his neck and arms. Danielle-Tori said that the police were called and had photographed his injuries.
Danielle-Tori said when the family asked him about Chanel, he said she didn’t want to be found and would inform them when she was ready. He also claimed not to know about her whereabouts and Danielle Tori said that LAPD told them they couldn’t arrest him without evidence and probable cause. They also allegedly said that the husband did not commit a crime by withholding information.
