Newlyweds Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissman are diving into married life with an exciting new project: renovating their first home together. After exchanging vows earlier this month, the couple is sharing their home transformation journey with fans, giving a glimpse into their plans and progress.
On Thursday, August 29, Jana, 34, took to YouTube to share footage of the “fixer-upper” they recently purchased in Nebraska. The expansive home, which features two floors, boasts five bedrooms and full bathrooms on both levels, along with multiple living spaces including a living room, dining room, kitchen, basement, and utility/laundry room.
During the video, Jana guided viewers through the house, explaining the couple’s vision for the space. One of the most significant changes they plan to make is the conversion of two adjacent bedrooms into a larger master suite. “Our plan is to remove this coat closet,” Jana narrated, pointing out the garage door nearby. “Then bedroom one and bedroom number two — we plan to combine those two and turn them into the primary bedroom suite.”
She elaborated on their plans, revealing that they intend to remove the existing closet, move a wall about five feet to enlarge the bedroom, and transform a smaller room into the primary bathroom. The couple also has big plans for the downstairs area, which they envision as a game room or an in-home theater, adding another layer of comfort and entertainment to their new home.
Jana, who rose to fame alongside her parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and her 18 siblings on the reality shows 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On, is no stranger to home projects. She’s often showcased her knack for design and renovation on social media. This time, she’s enlisting the help of her family, with her dad and several younger sisters, including 17-year-old Jennifer, pitching in for “Demo Day.” Together, they’ve been hard at work ripping up carpets and tearing down walls to make way for the new design.
The couple’s journey into homeownership and renovation marks the beginning of a new chapter for Jana, who has long been a fan favorite on the TLC shows that chronicled her family’s unique lifestyle and courtship traditions.

For years, viewers watched as her siblings found love and started families, leaving many to wonder when it would be Jana’s turn. Now, at 34, she’s not only found her partner in Stephen but also a new passion project in their home renovation.
Jana and Stephen, 31, tied the knot on August 15 in a beautiful ceremony in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. The wedding was a family affair, with Jana’s sister Jessa Duggar Seewald, 31, serving as her maid of honor. Jana’s other sisters, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, 30, Joy-Anna Forsyth, 26, Johannah Duggar, 18, and Jordyn Duggar, 15, were bridesmaids, along with her sister-in-law Abbie, who is married to Jana’s twin brother, John-David Duggar. Jana’s father, Jim Bob, walked her down the aisle, adding a sentimental touch to the ceremony.
Now, as the couple settles into married life in Nebraska, where Stephen serves as a pastor and Bible study leader at East Fairview Mennonite Church in Milford, they are excited to see their home renovation project come to life.
Jana has expressed her enthusiasm for the journey, telling People in an interview published on August 17 that she’s enjoying the process. “He has a little house we bought that we’ve been fixing up and getting pulled together, and so that’s been fun,” she shared.
As the renovations continue, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how the couple transforms their “fixer-upper” into a dream home, marking the start of their life together in the Cornhusker State.
