Fans of the couple might say it’s been a long time coming, but Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially set to part ways.
Just two years after their wedding in Las Vegas, the couple has spent much of the past few months at odds, fueling speculation about their future. Earlier this year, Affleck moved out of their Beverly Hills mansion, and while neither has openly discussed the status of their marriage, the signs suggested divorce was imminent.
As it turns out, that has proven true. JLo has reportedly submitted the necessary paperwork to the Los Angeles County Superior Court, choosing a particularly symbolic date—exactly two years after they tied the knot.
According to TMZ, the couple’s separation date is listed as April 26, 2024, while Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, their second wedding anniversary.
Their complicated love story spans two decades, dating back to when Affleck and Lopez were one of the “IT” couples of the early 2000s. They were engaged but called off their wedding before parting ways and moving on with other partners.

Fans of the couple, affectionately known as “Bennifer,” were thrilled when they rekindled their romance in 2021, got engaged in April 2022, and married in Las Vegas later that year. However, rumors of trouble soon surfaced.
In recent months, their separation seemed inevitable. Speculation ran rampant, and with neither party actively denying reports of marital strife, it was only a matter of time before divorce papers were filed.

Reports indicate that JLo filed the papers without a lawyer, waiving her right to spousal support and requesting that the court deny Ben the same. TMZ also claims the divorce documents reveal that the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement, meaning any earnings during their nearly two years of marriage will be treated as community property.
