Kamala Harris planned to brutally troll her presidential rival Donald Trump by flying a banner over Bryant-Denny Stadium while he watched the Alabama Crimson Tide host the Georgia Bulldogs – but weather saw the stunt fall through.
Trump was in attendance to watch the major SEC showdown and take a break from his presidential campaign, but Harris saw it as an opportunity to get under his skin. Reports claimed the Harris campaign would fly a plane over the Tuscaloosa football arena with a banner that read: “Trump’s Punting on 2nd Debate.”
However, while Trump appeared at the game, the banner was nowhere to be seen. According to Atlanta-Journal Constitution, a Harris campaign official said the banner would no longer fly over the stadium due to weather concerns.
Earlier in the day, CNN reported the banner was organized by Harris as she looks to confirm a second debate with the former president. Trump has now held two debates ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election, one with former candidate Joe Biden and the second with Harris on Sept. 10.
Trump found things much easier against Biden, and the current president backed out of the race shortly after. Harris put up more of a fight against Trump and has already accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in another debate on Oct. 23, but so far is the only candidate to respond.
Harris is looking to put pressure on Trump ahead of the election which will be held on Nov. 5, and wishes to engage in another debate. “Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.
“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate.” Harris then posted on social media that she “will gladly accept a second presidential debate” and believes that Trump “will join” despite the former president already informally rejecting the proposal.

“The problem with another debate is that it’s just too late, voting has already started,” Trump said during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina. In addition to the proposed date, Trump has stressed that he’s already conducted two debates, and doesn’t feel the need for a third.
CNN hosted the first debate between Trump and Biden, although it was ABC that conducted the second evening when Harris had taken over. CNN has also placed pressure on Trump after releasing a statement, alleging that a third and final debate would be beneficial for the American public.
“Both Vice President Harris and former President Trump received an invitation to participate in a CNN debate this fall as we believe the American people would benefit from a second debate between the two candidates for President of the United States,” the network said in a statement. “We look forward to receiving a response from both campaigns so the American public can hear more from these candidates as they make their final decision.”
There is no known deadline for Trump to accept CNN’s proposal, but Harris is making life tough for the former president. The American public would crave a final debate, and CNN is desperate to host it, but Trump feels as though he’s already done enough.
