Little Monsters rejoice – Lady Gaga has been cast in the second season of Wednesday.
The hit Netflix show about the Addams Family daughter, played by Jenna Ortega, was instantly a hit when it aired on the streaming service in 2022. The show follows Wednesday Addams as she navigates school and her budding psychic skills.
Season two is in the works, with Lady Gaga allegedly currently filming the show in Europe at the moment. Gaga already has a connection to the show, as her song Bloody Mary went viral on TikTok in connection to a clip from season one of Wednesday dancing.
It’s unclear what Gaga’s role will be in the show, but Entertainment Weekly claimed a source shared the news about the Paparazzi singer. It isn’t Gaga’s first foray into television acting as the star appeared in the fifth season of American Horror Story and even won a Golden Globe for her role.
She also starred in films like A Star Is Born, House of Gucci, and Joker: Folie à Deux, the latter of which came out this year. Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, is also working on her seventh studio album.
Jenna Ortega might have had a hand in Gaga appearing on the hit show. At the Golden Globes in 2023, the star shared with Variety that she wanted the Bad Romance singer to join the cast.
“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” she said at the time, “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”
It’s unclear when the second season will be released but hopefully other actors from the first season return. Some of the most iconic actors from the first season are Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán played Wednesday’s parents Morticia and Gomez Addams; Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones fame played Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy; and Christina Ricci played Marilyn Thornhill, Wednesday’s dorm mother. Christina previously played Wednesday in the 1991 film The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values.
