In the weeks leading up to his tragic death, One Direction star Liam Payne quietly donated thousands to various global fundraisers. The late singer’s generosity has come to light following his untimely passing earlier this week.
The father-of-one, who shot to fame on ITV’s The X Factor alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, tragically fell from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday. Witnesses at the hotel have recounted how Liam was behaving erratically just before his death, with police previously stating that the pop star’s hotel room was “in complete disarray” with “various items broken.”
They also mentioned that a whiskey bottle, lighter, and mobile phone were found in the hotel courtyard where Liam’s body was discovered. Despite the darkness surrounding his final hours, the Strip That Down singer spent his last weeks alive spreading happiness and providing aid to those in need.

Liam, who shares a seven year old son, Bear, with ex Cheryl, was driven by paternal instinct.
Following the death of Liam, a flood of revelations has shed light on his undercover generosity. Liam led a secret life of philanthropy, coming to the aid of those facing grave illnesses, like Jack, a 28-year-old battling Stage 4 B Cell Lymphoma who received $3000 from the singer earlier in October, reports the Mirror.
His kindness extended further with a $5000 contribution to a GoFundMe in September, which assisted the family of a four year old cancer warrior managing the financial burdens of their childs second battle with the disease. That very month, Liam also donated $1000 to support Taylor Jones, a teenage girl gravely wounded in a school shooting on September 4th.
Not forgetting a $2,900 gift to a tiny heart recovering from a stroke. All of Liam’s charitable acts were made under his own name without any accompanying message left on the donation pages.
Right up until his unexpected passing, Liam was caught live on Snapchat, distributing much-needed funds on GoFundMe to American kids requiring urgent medical procedures. He revealed his motivations for donating: “As a father, it hits me differently. I would want everyone in the world helping. I have been spending the last few nights trying to finish off the donations so they can get the operations they need – they would be free in my country.”
“I can’t look at a sick child and not see Bear. I can’t and I won’t. I’m not asking for people to say well done or I’m amazing – I don’t give a f— about what people think of me.”
He further expressed his sentiments by saying, “What I care about is that that child gets to live the life it’s supposed to.”
Following his passing, The Trussell Trust, a food bank charity, recognized Liam’s legacy of kindness, praising his “compassion and kindness.” His generous support made a significant difference during the challenging Covid times, as he funded over 100 food banks across UK towns, providing relief to those pushed into crisis by poverty.
In a touching 2020 Facebook post, Liam shared: “Recently I made a personal, long-term commitment to support the The Trussell Trust and their vital work supplying meals to those in need all over the UK. It was humbling to get involved at my local food bank yesterday, and to meet some of the incredibly passionate people like Carla, Dorothea and Helena who are working tirelessly during these incredibly tough times. I’m glad to be playing my small part as we work towards a future in which nobody needs a food bank.”
Emma Revie, the Trussell Trust CEO, expressed her sorrow with the words: “We are extremely saddened by the news of Liam Payne’s death. Over the last four years, Liam was a generous supporter of Trussell and our community of food banks, not only funding the provision of more than 360,000 meals during Covid but also often joining us in calling for the solutions required to end the need for emergency food.”
She added, “We greatly appreciate the compassion and kindness he always showed to people facing hunger and hardship. His death is a very tragic loss, and our thoughts are with his loved ones.”
