The Quiet Place: Day One actress and Joshua sparked dating rumors in October 2023 after they were spotted getting close at a Janelle Monae party in California around October. It was then confirmed that they were an item when they were photographed walking and holding hands in Joshua Tree National Park, located in San Bernardino County, California.
Joshua was spotted with model Nastassja Robert on Monday, September 27 in New York City leading to rumors that he and Lupita called it quits.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that Lupita and Joshua were “not together.” They said: “He’s out and about, dating and living his life. He’s prioritizing being a great dad and his career, and in between that, having fun.”

People on social media were surprised with the news and even believed they were already broken up since they were very private. One person commented under the Entertainment Tonight Instagram post: “I srsly thought they broke up a minute ago…?!?!” Another person wrote: “Well of course [laughing face emoji].” A third wrote: “Rebound relationship Never work. Both were coming out of Relationships.”
The Black Panther actress and Doctor Odyssey star got together when they were both going through publicized breakups. Joshua broke things off with Jodie Turner-Smith in 2023, whom he shares one child with. Jodie filed for divorce in October, citing “irreconcilable differences” in papers filed at a Los Angeles court.
Lupita then confirmed her breakup from her boyfriend, Selema Masekala around the same time and shared an emotional statement on social media as she described how she needed to “publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust.”
She wrote: “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.” Lupita continued: “I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass.”
