Ashley Hansen, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s communications chief, is stepping down from her role so she can focus on building her new business as she leaves to do so
Ashley Hansen, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s communications chief, is stepping down from the role with the royal couple to launch a new career for herself.
The former employee of the royal married couple Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be starting her own business, Three Gate Strategies. Ashley revealed that Three Gate Strategies will “specialize in communications and brand management for distinguished individuals and organizations,” and particularly focus on female-led businesses.
Despite Ashley’s departure, the Duke and Duchess will remain her client.
They even helped Ashley brainstorm her new company’s name, which stems from a Rumi proverb that someone should consider the “three gates” before saying something. The three things that should be considered are whether what was being said was true, necessary, and kind. Although Ashley is leaving her spot as communications chief, she still will “represent and advise” the Duke and Duchess and their team, according to HELLO!
Additionally, she explained that she’d be representing Meghan’s commercial business along with the actress’ other creative projects. The Suits alum revealed in her statement her excitement for Ashley’s new business venture.
“We are so proud of Ashley, especially as a female entrepreneur. We look forward to having her focused expertise on our business and creative projects and her continued oversight of our communications team,” Meghan’s statement read. “My husband and I are excited to be alongside Ashley as she builds something extraordinarily special with her firm.”
Ashley also revealed: “I am incredibly grateful to The Duke and Duchess for their continued trust. Their unwavering support and belief in my new firm has been meaningful and is a testament to their leadership.
She continued: “I knew when they first hired me that they were giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and I couldn’t be happier to continue working together.”
Meghan faced a small setback in September for her new brand when its trademark application was denied because it’s a “commonly used nickname” for the area. Right now, it’s not clear when the company will start trading, but it’s insight into the products that the brand will sell.
According to HELLO!, “Previous trademark application filings disclosed some of the products, including digital and print cookbooks, tableware such as cutlery, dinnerware and decanters, napkins and tablecloths, and a variety of food ranging from jams and jellies to spreads and butters.”
Earlier this year, Meghan shipped off the first of the products, with many of her friends receiving jars of jam.
