A former Missouri middle school substitute teacher was accused of paying her students to have sex with her in an elaborate scheme, it was reported.
Carissa Jane Smith, 30, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with 19 counts that ranged from rape to sex trafficking of a child, pedophilia and general misconduct with a student.
Smith reportedly taught at the Dixon School District in Missouri, which is located about 130 miles southwest of St. Louis. In exchange for the sex, she reportedly offered money, cannabis and alcohol to the students. That went on for at least a year, it was reported, with local media citing the Pulaski County Sheriff’s office.

Victim statements advised that Mrs. Smith would have sex with them at her residence and other various locations such as gravel roads or on the side of the road, the sheriffs department wrote. Victims were able to provide information about what type of vehicle Ms. Smith drove and described her residence.
She is accused of having sexual relations with at least two students, according to police.
According to police documents obtained by NBC affiliate KYTV one victim told police that the abuse started back in August 2023. The victim first met Smith when she substituted for one his classes where she reportedly shared her SnapChat user name with students, according to the documents.
“Smith began sending them pictures of her breasts and buttocks, along with her nude in the shower,” court documents stated.
Police say that Smith would have sex with students in her home and other locations including dirt roads, several times over the course of a year. In one instance, Smith is accused of smoking marijuana with her student along with her friend, a former nurse for the school district. Smith allegedly then took the child to McDonalds because her husband was at home with their kids, according to court documents.
In another alleged sexual encounter a student reportedly asked Smith to stop that they were doing but she refused and gave him extra money afterwards, the documents said.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said that additional charges could be filed if more victims come forward. The list of charges against smith include.
A warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest on Nov. 8 and she was taken into custody on Nov. 12 and is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
